How To Use Tool or App
Getting Started and UI
-Download the free version of the app from iTunes or the App store.
-Below is the home screen. From here you can choose to make a video by selecting new, open an existing video, shop the store or change the settings.
-The settings that you can adjust are limited. Below is a screenshot of the settings page. You can alter how the voices of the socks puppets will sound after you record the video. You can record a sample to preview the voice effects.
-Going back to the home screen, select new and you will be guided through the setup of your sock puppet video.
Making a Video
-You first select up to two characters. There are two types of characters, cartoon and photo realistic. Additional characters are available for purchase in the store.
-Next, select a background. You can always buy more in the store.
-Now you have the option of including scenery and props. Yes, you can buy more if you'd like!
-Now you are ready to start recording!
-There are three buttons that can be selected right away. The red circle is to record, the arrow is to go back and modify your selections, and the house icon is to go back to the home screen. When you press the record button, a countdown begins in the upper left corner under the toolbar. Unless you pay for the time upgrade, you will only have 30 seconds of record time.
-The red arrow indicates which character is selected. This character's mouth will move when you speak.
-Once you either run out of time or have finished your video, the program will "scrub" your audio giving the characters new voices.
-The floppy disk icon will now be clickable. You will now be able to name and save your masterpiece!
-Now that you have a video, the other icons will now be selectable. The Triangle allows for playback and the character with lines brings up share options.
Sharing Videos
-The share options allow you to choose to share via Facebook or YouTube. Choosing either will make the app prompt you for your username and password. The app does save this information so if you are concerned about privacy, the reset accounts button will delete all saved account info. The video you choose to share is automatically uploaded to your account. It is a very simple process and is accessible to all levels of users.
-You can not save your video to your photo folder unless you choose to upgrade to that feature.
-The settings button allows you to set video size and quality. This is very important if you are not on a wifi network. Uploading a large high quality video over 3G can take a good amount of time.
